Born on 29th April 1967 AD, Shree Krishna Shrestha was a well known Nepali Actor. He was born in Bagbazaar, Kathmandu to Radha Krishna Shrestha and Jagat Kumari Shrestha. He was the youngest among his six brothers.
He had been involved in more than 70 movies and is one of the most famous faces in Nepali Film Industry. He is best known for his charms and dancing skills.
His debut movie was "Bhumari (1989 AD)" directed by Chetan Karki. But his first major movie was "Naata" directed by Bishwa Basnet. From then, there was no turning point for him and he bagged several movies which turned out to be hits and helped him pave his career in Nepali Film Industry.
As a major actor for 25 years in Nepali Film Industry, he had given several hits like "Aafanta", "Afno Manche", "Ye Mero Hajur", "Hami Tin Bhai" etc. He had shared screen space with every major actor, and is well known as a soft spoken person. He shared a very good relationship with late director Shiva Regmi with whom he worked in more than 8 movies. This partnership was successful in giving some of the hits of Nepali Cinema like "Pahuna", "Sukha Dukha","Ram Balaram","Kahan Bhetiyela" etc.
Later on, he became a producer from the movie "Kaha Bhetiyela", which turned out to be an instant hit and was one of the highest earners during its time. Apart from movies, he was also involved in various other businesses. He took a very long time to produce another movie after "Kahan Bhetiyela". He got married on 7th July 2014 (23rd Asadh 2070) to Shweta Khadka who was also the heroine of his first produced movie "Kahan Bhetiyela". The pair are involved together in 3 movies. The second production from Shree Krishna Shrestha was movie "Kohinoor".
The health condition of Shree Krishna Shrestha was very poor and after he got married he went to India for his treatment. The movie "Kohinoor" was released on 8th August 2014. At that time, he was in India for his treatment. He died after 2 days from the release of his movie. The cause of the death is said to be the bone cancer which was recently diagnosed. He was suffering from serious throat problems and deep pneumonia.
His dead body was brought to Nepal on 11th August 2014. Hundreds of people arrived at Tribhuwan International Airport in his honor. The funeral procession was then started from Airport which carried on the route to National Academy where he was to be given the last honor. But due to the presence of overwhelming number of his fans, the plan had to be cancelled at the last moment and the body was then taken to Pashupatinath where even large numbers of fans were present. During the final rituals, Nepal Police paid state honor to Shree Krishna Shrestha during which Minister of Information and Communication, Minendra Rijal paid respect to him by covering his body with National Flag. This is the highest state honor given to any Film Actor in the history of Nepal.
